Dance Company Supervisor Michelle Chavarria is currently the Dance Company Supervisor here at Hintze Dance Center and is overjoyed to be going on her 6th year teaching for this amazing studio. Through Hintze Dance Center, Mrs. Michelle has won numerous regional and national awards in both entertainment, choreography, and overall high point awards. This past summer Mrs. Michelle was awarded 2 choreography awards at Star Systems Nationals in Nashville, Tennessee for both tap and jazz as well as having 3 routines be placed in the overall finale productions of the competition. She was also very proud to be one of the choreographers for the Young Tanzsommer Festival in Austria with Hintze Dance Company. 22 performers from the company performed and toured Austria and performed for thousands of admiring fans. This was an opportunity of a lifetime for Michelle and Hintze Dance Company and we look forward to returning again in 2011. In the Houston area, Mrs. Michelle’s choreography can be seen throughout the drill team world as well. She is currently a choreographer for the Cy-Springs Panteras, Langham Creek Bailadoras, and the Cy-Woods Crimson Cadettes. Her choreography for these teams has won awards on regional, national, and international stages. Mrs. Michelle also enjoys teaching current and future drill team members at Hintze. Michelle is very proud to be a magna cum laude graduate of Oklahoma City University with a Bachelor’s of Performing Arts in dance performance. But more than anything she is so proud to currently have dancers attending the university and following in her footsteps and also teaching at Hintze Dance Center. Dancers who have trained with Mrs. Michelle have also gone on to perform and choreograph for Six Flags and dance in Disney Tokyo and on numerous cruise ships. Currently Mrs. Michelle is also the choreographer for the reigning Miss Houston, Callie Thompson. Her choreography can be seen this summer at the Miss Texas Pageant. Callie also performed Mrs. Michelle’s choreography as the 2008 Miss Teen Texas and was seen in the Miss Teen America pageant last summer. In the past, Michelle was a Houston Texans cheerleader and an NBA dancer with the Charlotte Hornets. She has been a choreographer for both the NBA Houston Rockets and the San Antonio Spurs as well as a guest choreographer for auditions for both teams. She is also a competition judge with companies such as Star Systems, Legacy Dance Championships and Hall of Fame Dance Challenge. Michelle currently resides in Cypress, Texas with her husband Adrian.
