                                        Studio Rules & Procedures

August 2007 – June 2008

Registering for Classes

If you have danced before and know the skill level you are looking for, simply review the current class schedule, complete a Registration & Release form, and submit your payment plus the annual registration fee (refer to the Class Tuition sheet for specific payment details).

If you are new to dance or to Hintze Dance Center, you may participate in ONE class at no charge to help you decide if that class is right for you.  You must first sign up for that class at the front desk, and will be allowed to attend based on space available.

Tuition Payments

Annual tuition is based on the total regular class time you or your child is scheduled for each week, and a dance instruction “year” that runs from August through June.  If it is not possible for you to pay the full annual tuition fee due in August, you may elect to pay the tuition in 11 equal monthly installments.  The first installment is due with your registration, and subsequent installments are due on the 1st of each month.  Please note - we accept exact cash, checks, and credit cards.

If your installment is not paid by the 3rd of the month, a late fee of $15.00 will be added to your installment payment, and classes may be restricted.  There is an additional charge of $30.00 for all returned checks.  Tuition is due whether or not you have danced by the first of the month.

Conduct in the Studio

The following code of conduct applies to all visitors in the studio, whether student, parent, relative, or friend:

·         NO food, drinks, candy, or gum are allowed in the studio.  Bottled water only is allowed in the dance rooms during class times.

·         If you have small children with you, please watch them at all times.  They can injure themselves or others if left unattended.  Please do not allow children to play with trophies or photographs on the walls.

·         Only authorized personnel are allowed in the office area behind the front desk.  Please do not enter that area without permission.

·         Running and disruptive horseplay are not allowed in the studio lobby.  Small children need to remain with the parents in the lobby area.

·         Any student who continually disrupts a class may be dismissed from that class.  If the behavior does not improve, the student may be permanently withdrawn from the class (with no refund).

Drop-off & Pick-up

Students should arrive 5-10 minutes prior to class, so that they will be prepared when class begins.  Please do not arrive any earlier than that time, as we have limited lobby space and many full classes.

We encourage you to stay and watch your child in class, but if you must drop off your child without staying, please return promptly to pick them up by the time the class ends.  There is no one available to watch your child if she/he is not in a dance class.

Missed & Make-up Classes

You or your child may make up missed classes by attending a class of similar level.  Check with your instructor to get a recommendation for which class would be appropriate as a make-up, and then schedule with the front desk to make sure there is room in that class before attending.  All make-up classes must be completed within 30 days of the missed class.

Withdrawals

You may withdraw from any class by giving 2 weeks written notice.  Monthly installments will be adjusted to reflect the change in class time.  The lowered installment payment will take effect on the 1st of the next calendar month.

Holidays

Hintze Dance Center observes major holidays and most Cy-Fair School District student holidays.  For a complete list of scheduled closings, refer to the calendar included in your registration packet.

These items are the only dance apparel approved for class wear.  PLEASE DO NOT WEAR ANY OTHER TYPE OF SHIRT, PANTS, OR SHOES DURING CLASS.  All dance shoes with laces should be tied appropriately, for the safety of the student.

Recital

Beginning in January, each class will learn a dance routine to perform in a full-costume recital to be held mid-June.  Combo classes will learn a recital routine for EACH type of dance taught (such as ballet and tap)

Although participation in the recital is optional, we encourage our students to take advantage of this opportunity to showcase what they have learned in class, and to perform for their friends and relatives.

Fees:  A recital fee is required for each student to cover costs for the event, such as auditorium rental, scenery, video taping, sound equipment, stage and lighting crews, and programs.

Recital fees are per dancer, regardless of the number of dances they will be performing in the recital:
$85.00 for the first family member
$65.00 for each additional family member

ALL RECITAL FEES ARE DUE BY JANUARY 31, 2007.

Costumes:  Costumes will be carefully selected and ordered by Ms. Ginny for each dance from an array of professional costume companies.  Please keep in mind that these costumes will NOT be custom-made to fit your child, so it is very important that you measure your child accurately and order the appropriate size.  Because of the long lead-time for these costumes, there will not be enough time to reorder once the costumes have arrived.

Costume fees are PER DANCE:        Child small, medium                               $59.00
                                                      Child large                                              $69.00
                                                      Adult small, medium, large                      $79.00
                                                      Adult X large                                    min $89.00
(costume companies may charge more for X large)

ALL COSTUME FEES ARE DUE BY NOVEMBER 1, 2007.

Payment:  Recital fees and costume fees must be paid with separate checks, and should NOT be included with any other payments.  Please note - no refunds will be given for registration fees, recital fees, costumes, or custom choreography.
